Get them in that 20 long or 40 breeder. It'll help a bit with the bossiness. She may not be less bossy, but he'll have somewhere to take cover if she's pestering him.
I didn't know you had bigger quarters available. I agree, the 40B would do wonders. I have my njisseni in a 40 long
Being that you are changing the tank, some fine sand on the bottom would be good too!
I tend to give them several to choose from, and let them figure it out themselves.

I guess this proves that when fish are provide with optimal conditions they thrive and course reproduce.
And that is what your TLC gave them.
