Pat....the beginning of this thread seems to have 2 different start dates. The original thread was written on 8/19 at 2:55 pm, and Pat, you replied to this same thread on 8/19 at 9:52 pm. It is entitled 'Help' just like the second thread that was posted on 8/21, which is the one from which you are counting the treatment days. Since I began metro treatment on 8/19, today is day 9. (If you look up your comments, you should be able to find this original thread!)

This fish came from Kenny's June shipment, and as you can see, he is expelling a gel-like substance, for over a week now. He will eat freeze dried black worms, but is not interested in any other foods. He has 7 tank mates, who seem fine....please advise!! Kris

Kris, you start the metro treatment in the hospital tank and then moved the fish and continued the metro treatment? Is this correct?

Pat...day one of metro was 8/20 in the 10 gl.tank. Day 2 was back in the display tank on 8/21, and I continued daily treatment until today 8/29, which is day 10.
Back to my question.....the fish looks good, acts normal, eats somewhat normally, but is still passing a mixture of white and darker feces, usually more white than dark. I got a very close look at the white fecal matter that he passed last night, and it looked as if there were very tiny 'links' all along the length of it. Since he does eat, I'm beginning to wonder if he has tape worms! Can you guys refer me to a close-up photo of a discus tape worm, so I can compare? Kris

Peace Kris, I was confused as you were asking about dosing metro in this thread http://forum.simplydiscus.com/showth...-dose-question so it easy to assume one doesn't start treatment when they are asking questions about dosing.

Regarding tapeworms perhaps this might help http://www.simplydiscus.com/library/...apeworms.shtml.

Although there is occasional mixed color stool, he mostly expels white stool. I've noticed that some of the white stool has very tiny, but evenly placed segments. At first I thought it was just the outline of the intestinel track, but now I'm wondering. (It's way to tiny to see in a photo)

Do you normally age your water? If yes, did you used aged water for the hospital tank?

Do you do daily water changes on your main tank (the one with the sick discus)? If no, when was the last time you did a WC? Could there have been a big difference in the pH between the main tank and the hospital tank?

Were the temps the same in both tanks? Did you supply enough aeration?

It's important to figure out what's wrong with the 10g tank and to fix it so that your sick discus can get the treatment it needs. If it stays in the main tank and continues to decline in health it will become a host for other bacteria and pathogens which can then spread to the rest of your discus.

I don't know what to think.....The water from my display tank, and hospital tank both come from the same aging barrel. I have thermometers in both tanks to assure the temp. I used one air stone in the 10 gallon. My normal WC regime is 50% every other day, however, since this problem began ive been doing daily 50% WC. The only difference is the filtration. The main tank has a 2217 ehime, and a large sponge filter, the 10 gallon has NO filtration. I washed the 10 gl. with a pressure hose, using only water! I don't know what to make of it!! As far as the testing results...the ammonia tests high in the 10 gl., because my tap water tests high. I added prime if course, but the prime dosent change the test results, it just neutralizes the chloramine, so I can't really tell what the true reading is. The ph, and other readings are the same! Any thoughts?

Is this possibly a tapeworm? The color is light brown!
