    Default geophagus choices

Looking for geophagus species that will work with discus. I don't know much about the species so any input will be nice.

It's hit or miss. Geos are active fish and they sift sand constantly. I have seen large setups with adult geos and adult discus, but my concern is that the geos may be a bit boisterous for a discus tank. Even the smaller ones like orange head Tapajos will get aggressive at breeding time. A better choice may be rams, which are like miniature geos, or Biotodoma species which kind of look like larger Bolivian rams and are usually fairly peaceful.

I've done both Winemilleri and Sp. Tapajos "Red Head" with discus without issues. Winemilleri have spawned a half dozen times without causing any problems...I would add the Geo's after the discus are established though.
