This is quite interesting and I am very intrigued to see the results as this progresses.

Did an experiment using Aqua bites DF 1 on Discus fry.
Fire Red parents spawned on May 18th, used my Blue Diamond pair as foster parents.
Started with one small pinch of Aqua bites DF 1 on the third day off free swimming May 27th, fed 3 times a day.
On June 1st removed the fry to there own 5 gallon tank, today June 5th they have eaten nothing but the Aqua bites and are growing good.

What is, and who makes aqua bites?

Rick,
So you did not use brine shrimp at all, this was the only food they have had so far ?
Here you go Jay...

That was Ralph but I'm sure he got what you meant
Rick, great growth. I remember a while ago a few members came forward saying that they used nothing but Forrests pellets to raise fry. The only thing that was lacking that I would have loved to see is raising 2 batches of the same discus. One with pellets and one with brine shrimp. Just to get an apples to apples comparison.
Regardless of that though, those members were very successful with the pellets only and I know it is a viable option alternative to brine shrimp.

Yes, the third day of free swimming with the parents instead of my usual practice of squirting in some live baby brine shrimp about 3 times a day, I instead, put in a pinch of Aquabites DF1. I did this everyday until today after the above post, I gave them some Discus Hans flake food ground up with my fingers and they ate like pigs. I am so pleased that it worked so well.So you did not use brine shrimp at all, this was the only food they have had so far ?

let me expound on the above post. Did I spell that right?
I breed discus with no problem, I have so many at times I can't keep up ...I think some people will know what I'm talking about. So instead of not caring if the water was soft enough to hatch etc. I decided to see if what Forrest said about DF1 really worked like he said it would
My Blue Diamonds were fostering some Fire Red Fry (that's another story) so i decided to try it on the third day of free swimming. when I put in a pinch of df1 I couldn't see or know if the fry ate it, I just kept on doing it about 3 times a day.
Four days later I moved them to there own 5 gallon tank 2 or 3 apple snails and 1 or 2 small bushynose plec's as I normally do.
I continued feeding them just the df1, 3 or 4 times a day with about a 70% water change. Still couldn't hardly notice or see them eat clearly.
I did notice them growing little by little and kept my fingers crossed.
I started to toss in a pinch and stir the top of the water. the last few days, I put a little bit of there water in a cup and put the pinch in the cup , shook it a little ....the cup that is. Anyways the df1 looks like tiny tiny pellets and not like flour and it does not foul the water. ....it works.
I will continue testing it on other fry as time goes on.
