african butterfly fish
The african butterfly fish was brought up on this forum back in 2006. The topic seemed inconclusive. Has anybody tried the butterfly fish with Discus? What were the results? Very cool looking fish if they wont go with discus I might have to try them in a new tank

Re: african butterfly fish
I have had several over the years. Currently, I have one in my main discus tank and it doesn't cause a problem at all. For the most part, they usually mostly stay on top and keep to itself. This particular African Butterfly initially would only accept small crickets, but it's now trained to take all sorts of food like flakes, fdbw, krill and granules. It won't touch beefheart and it won't bother the discus. As a matter of fact, it moves out of their way during feeding times. You need to keep a lid on the tank and cover ANY hole as they are jumpers and will find small tiny openings and jump its way out of the tank. As with any newly acquired fish, you will need to quarantine them. These fish are mostly wild caught.
