You have some very red reds! So nice!
Very nice reds. Also nice to see someone else cleans the outside of their tanks as often as I do.
Beautiful group.
Your wilds look very good, Cuipeua are red and the heckels have maintained their blue. The pics are quite good.
Pat
Your discus are talking to you....are you listening
Very very nice. What are you feeding them?
Thanks Pat, glad you like them
Hello Everyone,
After I conditioned the wilds I made the move to their 8' tank to get them to pair. At the moment there are 16 Discus in there (13 wilds+3 domestics). I believe it is crowded and that will keep them from pairing. I will remove 4 and see how they like it @ 12.
I was keeping them in normal tap water while cleaning and conditioning them, Now that I moved them to the Display/pairing tank I started making WC using RO water do the conductivity is gradually coming down. I am targeting a conductivity of around 60 uScm-1 and will let the pH drop naturally to 6-5.5 range.
On the filter I an using moving media filter followed by denitrification reactor then Purigen reactor. I will later add a UV sterilizer in the series.
Hopefully when the parameters are right I will start seeing breeding behavior. This group is showing a lot of potential and it will be great if I manage to breed them.
Enough talking ... here are some pictures
(Mind the dirty glass)
This blue moon Heckel is showing unreal colors not common in wild Heckels . but unfortunately its other eye has filled with water... I don't know if that will keep it from breeding.
What do you think is causing the eye issue? Can that be treated ? What 4 will you remove ?
Gorgeous group.
Thanks.
At the start I thought it is the regular pop eye and treated accordingly. However it seems to be due to a physical injury I don't think it is curable. It is in one eye only.
I will remove the larege RT and blue SS " domestics" and one Heckel and the Yellow Wild.
