Hi All,
Am wondering what is the best way to wash you hands before placing them into the tank? Rinse them in water, wash them with ivory soap, what do I do ??
Thank you.... Have A Nice Weekend

I have 7 tanks in my house, so if I'm working on multiple tanks at once I will wash my hands with rubbing alcohol before touching any of my discus tanks. I have a live-bearer tank that I definitely do not want to cross contaminate with my discus. The same thing goes with all equipment, nets, siphons, rags, etc, are all tank specific and never get swapped between tanks.
I usually just use some quick hand sanitizer and make sure hands are dry before going in
Im not illiterate...only my phone's auto correct is
I just rinse mine under the tap. And I usually wear an elbow length rubber glove.
Thank For All The Thoughts And Comments !!
I love the avatar Ryan. Still waiting for that email.... Just wondering if you were ever concerned about residue from the hand sanitizer in your tank. I have heard it can be toxic to reef tanks- Lido/Casey mentioned that. I would think different brands would have a variety of chemicals in them too. Obviously it hasn't caused any issues for you but I am just curious.
I used to use a scrub brush before I dove in like a paranoid new mother. Now I just rinse them in water making sure there is no soap or anything caught under my nails since I hand feed them.

Well I only keep discus, but I usually just wipe them well on a towel.

This time of year, if I don't put sunscreen on, I hear about it from my wife! (She wants me around a while for some reason.) I've been washing my arms with dish detergent and rising well, before working on tanks. I try to garden in the mornings and leave the tanks for the afternoon.

I tired hand sanitizer but it left a very strong smell on my hands, which made me nervous...
I actually don't wash my hands at all unless I had them in another fish tank or unless I have been working in the garden. When I do, I use regular handsoap and rinse rinse rinse, dry dry dry.
