I am so excited for you Al...I'm a grandma

A few years ago Pat took a break from the Hobby to care for her parents and sent me her wilds. I have used these for out crosses to domestics as is my breeding goals, but I have wanted to breed some red based wild blues from the group for F1 wilds.. Finally it happened and they have been doing an awesome job...

Wow this is cool, Al. Thanks for sharing. Very intense red on the front one. Really looking forward to seeing more of this.
Did you do anything out of the ordinary to get them to do it?
Respect! I know it is still early days but I think you can give yourself a Pat on the back (ugh!)
My discus are not fat...just big fish-boned
Al, I would be curious as to the cull rate with these fry. On my wild spawns I do not recall any specific defects.

Honestly Tobi not much these guys get only Freeze dried Blackworms.. Thats pretty much all I feed my pairs. The interesting thing on this one is They spawned and fertilized their eggs in my tap water. my pH is around 7.6 and my TDS is 290 , not exactly what people say wilds need I know, but thats what all my wilds are in, and my wild males still breed fine. I was surprised the female (the red one) did. I hadn't expected it.

Cool, that gives a noob hope. Like I said before, I don’t want to breed as such, but it’s dann cool when they mate and spawn.
Those are beauties!!!
Thanks Brian!
doing well so far..

Thanks Filip!
An update on the blues.. had to split the pair up. Dads got full custody and doing a great job. I went thru this before with him. He doesn't like to share fry.
At some point I will pull him and re-pair with the female again and growout the fry alone but for now all is well.
