Can you make the filter unappealing to them. I'm not sure how, wrap it in something rough.
Disclaimer - I'm not discus expert, just the thought of killing the filter for a batch of eggs didn't sound good to me.
I've go a pair who are threatening to spawn on the filter tube about 1 inch from the intake. Should this happen would it be best to cut the filter to prevent the fry from getting sucked into the filter until they move themselves to the parents?

Them dumb fish insist on spawning on that filter tube. If the eggs hatch I plan to shut off the filter and to set another filter at the opposite end of the tank. Or if D don't get a hatch then I may set up a 30 gallon and move the pair so that they can have some alone time.
Do you have a piece of slate you can lean on the filter tube, angels plus sells them
