Pet/Vet antibiotics are way more expensive than on line or for humans where I live. Antibiotics from a vet would cost way more for your dog than they would for you, here where I live at least.
Aren't you required to physically see patients before prescribing anything?[/QUOTE]
Yes, but they don't have to be brought into the clinic to be seen. You can view videos or photos of sick fish much the same way people post their sick fish on here.

what do you do when your heater only heats to 32degrees C ?
all heaters here in Aus, they only go so far as this temp.
any pet medication will be as much the same price as for that of meds for human consumption.
the difference is in countries like Aus, where we have a system called medicare, and alot of general meds and others prescribed, come under legislation relating to whats called here as the PBS (pharmaceutical benefits scheme). Alot of meds for human consumption are likely to cost alot less then that which a vet might prescribe.
Francis, how do you get the temp to that level ??? I've a 300watt heater which extends to 32degrees.
Steve, can you cite your sources please @ 'Metronidazole is the only effective treatment for Hexamita'.
fantastic Steve. can I purchase some from you, I'm in Melbourne, Aus ??
I've seen a lot of literature citing 'heat' as a treatment for hexamita. Do you not acknowledge this to be true?
can you tell that to the vets here in Aus please
My EHEIM Jager heater max is also 34 Celsius and other brands like Hygger could reach over 35 degree Celsius.
Heater will stop heating when temperature rise exactly to your desired temp. Heating temperature range 32 to 104°F. Control accuracy is +/- 0.5° C.

Treating Hexamita aka Spironucleus with Epsom Salt Solution
This is certainly encouraging news for anyone who's fish is still eating, or begins eating after treatment with Metro. Not only does Epsom salt assist in recovery when added directly to the aquarium (as per the links above), but according to the research posted above it has a deadly effect on hexamita when ingested.
Now for the treatment ......
For a 3% solution of Magnesium sulphate, add 1 level tablespoon (15 grams) magnesium sulphate to 500 milliliters of distilled water. Stir, and it's good to go.
Use an eye dropper or pipette to add to pellet food (or any other food that will readily absorb it), and stop dripping water once the pellets become saturated. Use only enough water to saturate the food, with no excess water, so that the water soluble vitamins in the food remain intact. Feed twice a day, for 3-5 days.
