Good luck!
I sold all my adult Discus except a young male from several generations of my breeding and a female from several generations of Al's breeding. They've been in a love nest for about 2 weeks. This morning they started pecking at the cone. No tubes down yet, though.

Perfect timing!!
Mrs. Sabbata fish laid down a ton of pretty eggs. I don't know if Mr. Streithorst did his job or not. I was busy making a big pot of chili when the deed was being done.

way to hustle
The secret to learning how to fly is this, you must throw yourself at the ground and miss.
You should see them, Fritz. They are such a loving couple.
Mrs. Sabatta is really a beautiful fish. She is exceptionally round and well balanced. Her fine SS pattern is stunning. But she has a yellow eye. Mr. Streithorst is a different type. He's high bodied and he has an incredibly intense blue base with some red spotting. He has a clear vibrant red eye. I've bred this line for 3 generations and all the fish are like this. I don't know what all kinds of things Mrs. Sabatta's has hiding in her genetics. I'm so eager to see how the cross works out. I really hope I see wigglers in a few of days. A good fertile spawn alone will be good enough for me this first time around.

Liz, good luck with this pair. Any updates?
Cliff
Thanks Cliff. They're still guarding lovingly. I'll post pics when I get around to it. Until I get wigglers it's too early to post pics.

A lot fewer eggs this morning but the ones that are left have all been bunched together and are nice and dark. If they do fail this time I'll cut them a break. After all, this is their first time.

I know, Pat. But this has become the normal thing with me what with this Discus breeding curse that has come upon me. At least this pair is young and has many spawns ahead of them. I wonder if I'll ever break down and try artificial like Cliff has encouraged me to do. I think that it would take all the joy of breeding Discus for me. The best part, the most wonderful part is seeing a pair with fry on their backs. Artificial would take the joy out of it...for me, anyway. I don't care much for just cranking them out as though I were a factory.

The dang pair be's doin' it again. They're in the process. This time I'll cage the eggs. Some times young pairs succeed the first time they try. Some times it takes a little teaching on the breeder's part.
