It won't hurt. You can also use bleach and rinse with water and let it dry. I always wash new tanks with bleach and then rinse and dry.
If one is going to start a barebottom discus aquarium in an aquarium that had some other healthy freshwater aquarium fish but was barebottom earlier. Is is necessary to wipe the inside of the aquarium with alcohol and wash with water before adding water and adding discus fish. Or just plain rinse of aquarium with water would be enough.
Is there aby chance of cross infection.

what is a better way to sanitize a tank? fill it with a bleach solution and let it sit or use bleach to wipe down the entire tank? i have a 110-gallon tank, that needs a good cleaning

I use a spray bottle with 50/50 scrub with a brush and rinse and let it dry.

I used to pour couple of bottles with bleach I the old Tank water and let the filter run through the night.
Rinse filter materials, wipe tank the next day and change new water with extra dechlor in it.
