Thread: White 'threads'

    Default White 'threads'

Hi, I am new to this hobby. I lost 4 discuses as I believe they were contaminated from all the gravel recently. The new batch I purchased has been okay the past 2 weeks (bare bottom tank now). My concern is, I changed 50% of the tank water yesterday after a week and noticed that there are white 'threads' hanging to the glass of the aquarium tank. What are these and are they harmful?

Sounds like some type of tank parasite or worm (cleanup crew- not discus). Try formalin at 1 cc or ml per 10 gallons, 50% water change after 8 hours. Add extra air. . . . and see if that gets rid of them.

p.s. Only one water change for the whole week? tsk, tsk, that's not enough - especially if you are feeding to the point you have scavengers in the tank . . .
