    Default spooky visitor

    Hi all,
Well, tonight, as I sat on my couch watching animal planet, I catch a glimpse of something moving on my living room window. This guy was cruising up my window, looking for a meal or something. I showed my wife and she freaked out totally. I caught it and took it to a nice spot in the desert to release and live on. He was a cool lookin dude! I put one of my gloves in the pic to give a perspective of his size....The glove is a men's large.

Is it the first tarantula you've seen in your neighbourhood?

Here is my spooky visitor. Not quite as large and hairy, but never the less, SPOOKY! Just in time for Halloween.

She is 3 to 3.5 inches long.

Every year for the past few years I post pictures of my resident spiders for Al, because as a man of science and nature he appreciates them. I, however, do not. In fact, the house I live in now is crawling (literally) with large wood spiders. They are about the same size (or bigger) as the one that Steve posted, but they're not hairy, just long-legged and skinny. But they move like lightning, which is what makes me afraid of them. Also, if you try to kill them, they jump at you.

I will try to get pics next time before I kill one :-X but I don't like getting too close because of the distance they can get when they decide to leap off the wall at me.
