    Default Could i do this?

Could i take all the filter media from my fluval internal and put it in my eheim external filter? I have new sponges for the eheim so could i put those in as well as the mature ones from the internal? If so which layer should i place the matured sponges in the filter?

You can do this. I have done the same basic thing in the past. I set mine up so water coming from the tank runs over the seasoned media first and then flows thru the new stuff, forcing bacteria to move and plant in the new media..that was my thinking, anyway!

    Hi FairyDiscus

I totally agree with Harriett, most people in the hobby will even place extra spong and media in an existing tank for the use of it later in a new setup one.

With the placement, the filter media can be placed either way even alongside the new one. A great way is as Harriett has described.
