The 2217 is a lot cheaper too.(at least in the UK) If you need filter baskets use loose net bags, work very well (and cheap too!)

Another point, albeit rather late in the conversation is the fact that the 2217 head can be rotated and attached to the cannister in numerous positions - gives you a lot of flexibility in placing filters and running hose. With the pro series the hoses are where they are and you have to work with what they give ya..
