i would also add some salt to the tank .. 2 tbls per 10 gal . and replace what salt that is taken out with W/C.

Gill problems are a problem, and not necessarily easy to diagnos w/o a micoscope. Clout or Fluke Tabs containg dylox will kill flukes and other parasites attached to the gills. If you see no improvement after 3 days, it could be bacterial in which case a dylox product is no help. You'd have to treat with an antibiotic.
It would be possible to treat simultainiously using a malchite green/formalin product and an antibiotic like kanamyacin, neomyacin, or erythromyacin. You could also treat with Prazi and one of the antibiotics, but if it is a protozoa, the prazi is useless.
Little known to alot, kidney problems can lead to gill problems, in which case, you will have a dead discus. No cure.

mat and ken thanks for the reply,i will try the sugestion
Would there be difference in gill tissue coloration from it being flukes verses bacterial? If it is bacterial, what would be the best medicine chosen? Using an antibiotic , would it be smart to remove the sponge filters while you are doing an antibiotic treatment? Could you do a Form/Mala Green treatment with an antibiotic at the same time? Sorry for all questions ,but very curious about this thread possibly being a bacteial issue.
Hi there Moik,
Not that I am an expert on the subject but I would use Kanamycin since I've had good results with it. You can use it without any harm to your biofiltration.
I know you can use Kana and some antibiotics at the same time but not sure which ones exactly. I've read metro can be used in combination with it.

Everything goes back to the sea....Dylan
Yikes,,, sorry for your loss.
Wow, that was fast. I'm sorry to hear about your loss.
The important thing now is to keep an eye on the rest. Watch for any symptoms and have meds on hand.

hey guys, the rest of the fish are all very good and healthy. I bought them from Kenny, and he said it happens to discus when them are stressed. I couldn't think of any reason why it died just after 3days I bought it,and the rest of the fishes are very healthy and active. so Kenny said that he will have a replacement for me with his next shipment in March.
Wow, that's terrible! Sorry to hear that you lost such a beautiful fish.
This isn't the first thread that I have read about sick erruptions. Has anyone else noticed that? Is this strain prone to issues? Seems odd. Just my observation.

Hi Chad,
I have noticed a lot of issues with eruptions but that doesn't say anything about the strain. If people were getting alot of BDs and we saw alot of sick BDs that doesn't really lead me to the strain.
I think alot of people are just purchasing eruption strains. I know I did, they are doing fantastic too.
Leicobra,
Thats awesome that you are gonna get a replacement! Thats so cool, Kenny and Forrest are the best!
Best of luck,
Eddie
