Hey Steve, looking very good. Thanks for the update. I also get some algae and have been thinking about using my timer to shut lights off during the day. Save money too.
Take care,
Kirk
I guess this will have to be my update for these 2 weeks. Rochelle is doing a wonderful job helping me keep up with the regular schedule. I got home last night after midnight and checked chemistry. I detected the slightest trace of ammonia and it was a little disconcerting since the tank had an 80% water change 4 hours earlier. I decided to up the afternoon water change to 80% as well, and setup a controller to add prime.
I also checked the status of my cycling canister filter. How long is that d**m thing going to take? Still solid nitrite readings. I'm using the w/c water to cycle the canister. Every day it gets the same water change.
I took these pictures before cleaning the tank. Someone asked in another thread (Ricardo?) if I get algae from the long light period and you can see from the pics that there's a little after a week but not bad.
I'm only going to be able to come home once next week but I feel a little more comfortable now.
Cheers everyone!

Wow Steve....all I can say is WOW, so amazing. They are gorgeous! Keep it up my friend.
Take care,
Eddie
i really love how your discus' color pops out. it's almost difficult to tell they are albinos if it wasn't for the eyes. i have also been getting some algae build up on my tank since i extended the light time so that i can squeeze in an extra flake feeding. your fish are looking great though. keep the parameters in check and you will be fine

Steve, as Ive said before WoW, they looked kind of pale before at that younger age & now are just coming along very nice. Lov'em! I guess the cannister is keeping you on your toes at the moment, not cycling it should be up & running soon, it will make a big difference, I know that for sure.

Ahmed
