John from Fremont, CA. Crazy about discus since middle school. Into Discus breeding.
Challenge and Busy….
Enjoy chatting with Discus Hobbyist.. PM me..
Boys from the Central Valley, I'm Oscar LA transplant now living in Sanger, just outside of Fresno. Avoid Wh!t!e's on Blackstone for Discus. Their display tank has what not to buy fish in it. I bought fish from Kenny, he is patient and will answer all of your questions, when you guys are ready. We are so close to him that for me the shipping was less expensive than driving and spending a day at the coast.
HI,
My name is Alfred. I'm an accidental breeder. Had my First from
Lucky Ocean. a gift from Steve, the owner. a cobalt Blue. It died
I did'nt recognize it was sick, dark color and not eating. Later on,
my interest caught on fire. I have 7 tanks. 2 pigeon turk, 1 penang eruption, 2 albino pearl diamond, 2 blue diamonds, 2 altum floras, all from
Kenny's Discus. I'm lucky to live close to Daly city. Steve and Kenny are
awesome people. I hope there are more hobbyist in sfo.

Cliff,
Thank you so much for your advice. You saved my whole brood. I used metronidazole for antibacterial
Kanamycin an antibiotic and acriflavine. There has been no deaths when I dosed the tank. I lost 9 before
I sought you out. What made you choose acriflavine?
Huntington Beach, CA here. Just getting back into discus after a twenty (!!) year hiatus. My old Wattley and Schmidt-Focke handbooks are sitting in the bookshelf beside me I just picked up eight 2" Red Turq/Spotted Leopards from Melissa (DiscusMama) for my 90 gallon planted tank. As soon as I have finished setting it up I will post pictures.
I have to say these forums have been a tremendous asset. I was able to jump back into the hobby much quicker than I anticipated. I was really worried about how I was going to get new discus (LFS was never an option, the ones around here have really sad looking Discus; prime candidates for the "what discus not to buy" thread) but the Hobbyist Breeders' Fry for Sale forum was just what I was looking for. I have been able to order some quality food from folks here as well as gain new friends! I am looking forward to the meeting next month as well. A big thanks to all.
Hope you and the fishes are doing well my friend! I'm very glad you decided to get back into the hobby, its so much fun right??
I'm Melissa, San Diego Cali here! Been keeping discus off and on for several years and have done it all now LOL got breeding down pretty well I would say, so my next venture may be breeding wilds. I'm small time and can pretty much only raise one spawn at a time given the limited space in my apartment. But that's just fine, exactly what i can handle right now...
Yay for discus!!
Melissa
Just be yourself. The people who matter, won't mind.
And the people who mind, won't matter.
You guys are lucky. I once stayed in Loma Linda for 6 months. I still dream of the burgers at Jack's Bar. I've often wondered if that place was still there. I love to visit California, but I couldn't afford to live there as well as I do now. It's a rather expensive place.
