How often to gravel syphon

Hi

Trying to work out how often i should syphon the gravel in my 80 gal tank , it has plants , 2 bristle nose , 2 corys and 7 discus.
Could someone please advise me on what would be the minimum per week.

One of my Tanks is planted.I do syphon every other day.
I dont know if that is too much or not too much but it works for me.
I do WC daily.

In bare bottom tanks I vacuum daily. In graveled tanks I would not dream of doing it any less frequently. Of course, plants don't necessarily appreciate that.

Hi Hammerhead.

IMO you can get some more corys and bristlenoses for that tank, they are very helpful for the uneaten food.

I would put 10 corydoras and 10 bristlesnoses

Every day for sure even if it's just to syphon out the gravel. With that many fish, you will have a lot of food and waste accumulate daily and if you don't keep the gravel clean you will see problems in the future.

IMHO syphon as much as possible! Particularly if you are using a substrate.

Well im no expert on Discus but i have kept Fish in the past. W/ my Discus im doing gravel syphons 3 times a week. What my cory's dont get my syphon will. I know its not a daily thing but water is changed daily.

When I had gravel In my 125 I would syphon 25% of the tank a day, changing 40 gallons of water. This seemed to be ok, as far as gravel goes. Rich
