Default Fish is doing a handstand

I have a discus that's face down swimming around. He will eat and will right himself and swim but then he goes back to the handstand. What's wrong and what do I need to do?I just did a water change about an hour ago.

Fill out disease questionair.... quickly... please fill it out ENTIRELY with all the testing included, so we need accurate ammonia nitrite and nitrate readings, not just what you think they are. Then we will get on this.

And was he doing this before the water change or only after it?

Since when do discus have hands? Lower the water in the tank and add salt to start. Lowering the water takes the pressure of the tank down, salt helps if it's a swim bladder issue. Not a bad idea to fill out the questionnaire anyway.

Its most likely a swim bladder issue and the advice given is a good place to start without attaining more info. Getting the questionnaire will allow us to see if there is something causing problems in your tank, beyond just treating the one issue you brought up.

You're a bigger man than I. I don't want to figure out if he has more issues unless they present themselves. lol

Thanks for the help. Like I said yesterday, I did a water change roughly an hour before I posted the thread and that was about 45 minutes after I noticed my buddy swimming nose down. However, after the posting he began to gradually right himself and by 9:30pm he wasn't doing it any more. In fact he stopped completely. Today, he's swimming around as if nothing ever happened. I'd still like to do the questionnaire to make sure there's nothing lurking. Where do I find it?

I've had that happen once before. One headstanding after a water change then it got over it by the next day. No ideas why though.

    Do you age your water?

Sorry, that question was for the OP. It had to be the change in pressure/temp from the water change. Hope it corrects itself. Dlocked (Dan) mentioned to lower the water, which is always my first move as well.
