    Default Cryptobia/Hex treatment

Hi, I know what I'm dealing with but have a question about treatment, so I'm going to pass on the questionnaire... water quality is fine, etc.

I'm 99% certain I'm dealing with a case of Cryptobia, since I'm about to treat Hex for the forth time in a year (as wonderfully described by John Nicholson in this NADA article, plus other research on SD and other places). There are a few questions I have about the treatment, since I'll have to go through another round of metro to get rid of Hex.

    1) which should I treat first? I'm assuming Hex.
    2) How long should I wait after Metro treatment until I try to knock off the Crytobia?
    3) Cryptobia treatment - I've heard 3g/10gal every other day for 5 days (3 total treatments) with 100% WC in between treatments. Would that still work if the medication is 40% m/m powder (whatever that means, as seen in this medication)?

    Thanks for the help, guys.

    Thanks for the compliment....LOL.

It has been a longtime since I wrote that particular article. I would not bother with the hex treatment. If you can cure the crytobia the hex will probably be cured also.

This can be a very tough thing to clear up. Good luck with your treatment.

Here's my take on cryptobia: http://forum.simplydiscus.com/showth...ies&highlight=

If you can get a positive diagnosis from an aquatic veterinarian, I doubt you'll be able to cure them. Sorry to say. Just my experience. Good luck.
