Here is a Coho buck that a friend harvested (him in photo), we each caught our limit that day and all the fish were between 28-35 inches.

I genuinely hope this post doesn't offend anyone.
Hey Joe, I harvested a beautiful deer last night with my crossbow. The 1st deer I have taken since opening day of the 2015/16 season. I am very happy. This guy will feed my family red meat for about 5-6 months. The heart will also feed my discus for a month or so. Here's a pic for ya mate!

Nice little buck. I didn't even buy tags this year to go hunting, but when winter is full on here I plan on doing some coyote hunting as we have too many here. Anytime you see coyote pups hit on the side of the road you know you have a population problem.
The coyote, and cougar have been severely reducing our deer population here.

Nice buck. I can imagine you stalking it to get a good shot....
I cant see why anyone would be offended providing you killed it in a humane way and not let it suffer. More importantly not letting it go to waste. Enjoy your venison meals...i'm a little jealous
Dave. I imagine that both Coyote and Cougar are your native species over there and wonder if you need tags to hunt either of them. It's a bit like our Kangaroo situation here at the moment where they are in plague proportions and competing with livestock for feed and water. The farmers here get tags to take out 1000s at a time where they deploy professional shooters to harvest them and sell them off...most of it ending up as pet food....they still struggle to put a dint on the population though.
Back on fishing, which is what this thread is all about.....
I went out for another fish with my son last Tuesday and caught a nice haul of Pinkies. Now dont think that i have a freezer full of fish at home, because some don't even make it there. I dropped off two of them for mum, and another two for an aunt. The remaining two i prepared and ate the next day...Nothing beat fresh fish...except maybe for Venison

coyote and Cougar are native. Only cougar need tags.
a number of years ago the use of dogs to hunt bear and cougar was outlawed in my state (Oregon) which caused the cougar population to explode causing great decline on deer and elk populations here.

Thanks Joe! I was hunting out of a ground blind that my 11 yr old son and I set up on Wed. I planned to hunt it in the mornings and a fixed position stand in the evenings because of the deer route on the property I hunt. I had a prompting from the Lord on the way out to hunt the blind. I asked my wife & boys to say a prayer and ask for direction, all 3 of them sensed the Lors saying the ground blind. Against my natural judgment I went to the blind. I hadn't been in there 30 mins when this guys walked out in front of me about 30 yds away. The shot him in the left lung and heart, a very clean humane death. I did a preliminary dressing this morning and have 6kg of primo back straps and tenderloins, 14kg of meat to mince off the torso, and still have the hind & front legs whole to butcher. Should have about 40kg cleaned and packed once ots all done.
I plan fried some back straps slivers in garlic butter with salt & pepper after my mornings butchering...omg buddy, the only thing better is fresh pinkie outta the bay...mutual jealousy my friend! Great to see you out with your son!
Take care mate!
My American friend Eric now lives in Perth Western Australia. He's fished all his life and used to work the smaller bass tournaments locally in Minnesota. He works for big tackle warehouse that Imports high-end Japanese deep sea jigging gear and has got right into deep water jigging the last couple of years. Here's a few pics. Clearly I need to get back home and have him put me on to some of these beasts. The hapuka and blue eye trevalla come out of 300 meters of water. Talk about pulling your arms off!

Some of the best eating fish you can catch....Pitty it lives in half mile deep water...lots of hard work but worth it.
Thanks for sharing Dan.

She looks very cute Joe .
Thanks Sayid...Long time no see. think we may be due for a catch up.
Our fishing club held its annual Snapper Competition on Sunday, and we had a really good turn up for it. We had 11 club boats with 30 odd men, women, and children all competing for some prizes. It was good helping new members find fish, and also great to see some of them catch their first snapper.
Our boat managed 5 snapper with the limit on them being 3 fish over 40cm per angler.
The winning fish weighed in at 6kg, and the two i caught were just under at 5 and 5.5 kg
We had a social BBQ once everyone was safe an accounted for.

Hello from the Great Lakes! My friends and i do as much fishing as our daily lives will allow. Here are are a few pics from our salmon trips. One is my wife with her first ever salmon, gotta love a rookie to hook a big one!
These are all from trips to Lake Ontario in August, sunrise on the way out are magic.
nice haul
Thanks for your post and pics. That's always the way with first timers catching bigger or more fish, but at least it gets them hooked. Some nice salmon there...very jealous. I'm actually going to be in Canada in a few months and hope i've timed it right for the salmon run. Will definitely give it a go.
Talking about rookies, im heading a marlin fishing trip for our fishing club with most of the members having never fished for marlin...Lets hope they are all as lucky as your wife. Thats only a few weeks away

With the good weather here i've been getting out a fair bit, especially over the Christmas holiday period. My grand daughter Izzy had a few good sessions on the snapper, but also enjoyed catching her first whiting and more squid. I also tried something different by fishing with soft plastics of the break water wall, with some success on flat head.

I heard that the gummy sharks were on the chew in the area i normally fish. Id never actually targeted gummy shark before and have only caught a few as bye catch. Armed with some information that i received form my fishing club friends, i went to have a go. I was very successful and caught 8. Two of which were a good size to keep for a feed. Our bag limit for Gummy Sharks here is 2 per angler, and more than enough to stock the freezer for a few weeks. I'm keen to get out for another go real soon....do you blame me?
