Jannima,
I see this is an ongoing thread, and you post current pics.
I have a question for you! You have sand for the Discus and
ada soil for the ph and nutrients. I have ph of 7.6 similar to
yours. I want to keep the ada soil from mixing with the sand
on the surface when you siphon or pull plants. I was thinking
of putting a layer 1.5" of ada soil, and then putting a screen
on top of the soil, and then layering sand on top of that.
I would cut holes in the screen and plant roots. This would
be sort of a permanent scape. If I wanted to re-plant, I would
try to clear area and cut a hole in the screen to plant roots.
Any problems with this approach? Thanks!
Jeff
Wow what an unbelievable looking tank and fish....
your fish are living better then most humans!! i love your tank where did you buy your plants?
I am not the OP and I only keep my 125 gal Tetra tank as a aquacaped planted tank. When I want to get rare and/or quantities of plants as I did for my tank, I buy from www.aquariumplants.com
They have one of the largest selections of plants and have reasonable prices but even so, I spent $225 on plants for that 125 gal tank.
Over the years they have been a consistently good source for plants for me.
There are other good suppliers of aquarium plants but I have received good plants from www. arizonaaquaticgardens.com although I avoid their other livestock like the plague. Robert of aquabotanics.com in Portland, OR has recently changed to a different kind of company so I don't know how much he still emphasizes his plant part of the business.
These are the three companies I have received good and/or rare plants from over the years.
