Can Paprika be used in a BH mix to enhance the color of your red based discus? Seems like I read that somewhere.
OK That explains it, I have some tangerines. When I purchased them from a local breeder, his tangerine adults looked just like his marlboros, very red. So far, my 2.5" juvies are not turning red at all, but his from the same spawn are turning red. I know he feeds BH to his fish. I have refused to feed BH because his water smells like horrible bad breath. That's another subject, but he must be feeding something like that. ...Scott
You can feed BH without the water smelling like "horrible bad breath", especially if you're only feeding a few fish. The breeder was most likely feeding alot more juvies than you have in your tank.

Thanks Ralph and Van,
I will give one of these a go of the paprika yields no results.
Thanks a bunch Pat
I use the same stuff in my beefheart/seafood mix really does bring out the reds, I love it!!!
Larry, Paprika is what you are using??
Hi Pat.....I got astaxanthin from Ken Mendard(kenfish.com)....I also added some spirulina powder & freeze dried Antarctic Krill since krill exoskeleton contains high levels of natural color enhancing pigments in the form of astaxanthin.
