Joe, I've joined the forum from the UK!

Just sped through your thread in a lunch hour and must say that the young of the original group look so much nicer. Shape is much more rounded.

I'm just starting up my project to get back into discus keeping having been 'out of the game' for about 2.5 years with Flowerhorns.

I'm tempted to start a thread for my tank build which will hopefully start around late September.

Keep us updated with the progress!

    Hi Luke

Welcome to Simply Discus, and back into Discus.

Thanks for your interest in my thread and for noticing the slight difference of my latest batch. I suppose that's one of the advantages of breeding, where you can be selective of what you keep from the batch. Otherwise, i think another good idea is to buy as many small juveniles that you can keep and sort through them as they grow and develop. In this way not only do you enjoy watching their development and progress, abut also an opportunity to re-coop some $$$

I highly recommend starting a thread ,as its a good way to look back and see how you have progressed as well as giving others an opportunity to chime in and offer advice, or learn from your experience.

Ill definitely be looking out for it.

I'd like that, as well. I have a story to tell, but I'd rather not be the one to start the thread.

I'd love to hear your story Liz. I'm sure it would be very interesting and informative. Lots on here have already learnt much from your experience

Still lots of egg laying going on, from 3 different females. Eggs are being laid on the glass, the driftwood, and the breeding cone. I've seen two supposedly males doing passes over the eggs, but nothing has lasted long enough to indicate they are a proven pair. I'm still trying to make by breeding tank available where i will move a pair to raise some fry.

I never get tired of watching this group, but here are pics of my favorite four.

He's one of the two males i was talking about Liz. He hangs around with the female laying on the glass each time. Hope he can prove himself to be the one l select.

I had a bit of a lucky streak going when i attended the NADA Discus event in New Jersey nearly two years ago now. Yes, i managed to win a fair few raffles, two of which where aquarium light fittings which have been sitting in my office since. Part of the problem was that we have 240 volts coming out of our points here, so i had to chance the florescent tube ballasts and also the sockets. Well i finally got around to doing that, as all good things take time...right?

The light is a much whiter and brighter light, which the discus took awhile to get use to..here are a few pics.... The fitting has a second switch which turns on neon blue tubes which i have not exposed my fish too yet.

Your fish look great under the light Joe but heck, they would look good under any light. It was great meeting you at the 2018 NJ NADA show.
