Default My Brothers Fresh Water Stingray Pics

I know they are not discus but I had to share some photos of my brothers rays. He has 10 rays ranging from 6" to about 14" right now. This summer he is hoping to get a sunroom built on the back of his house in order to add a stingray pond in the room. He also has some Snook and Siamese Tiger fish in here as well. He builds his own tanks and this is his third one he has made and has been in the ray hobby for about 3 years now.

Not sure what kind this one is he told me it was a mix between to breeds and you will hardly ever find another like it 10".

Awesome! I've always love the elegance of rays!

BTW, tank looks good too. Slate bottom? Acrylic?

Yes he just added the slate a few weeks back and he had a place cut the acrylic pieces for him and he built the tank and stand.

Those are some nice rays. A ray pond would be so cool. You would just have to keep it really clean in order to actually see the rays.

    Thanks for sharing

Those rays are totally awesome!! When I was about 7 years old in the 70s there was once a really big and quite amazing LFS across the road from my house in Scotland, and I was fascinated by a tiny ray that was in one of the tanks. The ray must have been about 4''-5" or similar. It was so exotic compared to my Dad's fancy goldfish, something you only ever usually saw in TV documentaries, and I dreamed about having it. Are there any dwarf varieties of these beasts around? I've seen a couple of pics of a discus tank with rays in it, but I thought they all got really big, too big for my 90g...the closest thing I have is a little spotted Chinese Butterfly (Hillstream) Loach, which does an amazing job of scouring the tank glass clean.

    Thanks for sharing the pics!

There is what is called as a Tea Cup Ray they stay pretty small. My ray is a Hystrix ray and my brother has told me he has never seen one get any bigger then 10". But I am sure he could get bigger then that and I have mine in a 92 gallon corner tank. But once he gets big enough I will give him to my brother to move over with his rays.
