I am currently running a Otto Internal filter in my 3ft which is fully cycled and running for the last 3 to 4 months. I recently acquired a ehiem ecco 2244 and decided to add this to the tank. The cannister has been running for the past 2 weeks. My final goal is to remove the Otto filter at some stage ( possibly in a month or so )

My only concern is, how would I know the canister filter is fully cycled before i took the risk of shutting down the otto filter? also when i do shut down the otto filter, I will transfer its current media into the cannister so this should also help but what is the best way to know the cannister is fully cycled?

6 to 8 weeks for new cycle I have switched filters in a week or 2 transfering some of the old media into the new one. I would take bio media out of the old filter a little every couple days so that the media in the new filter takes over all the bio.
