Im setting up a growout tank....pick up fish this weekend, is it best to leave the back and sides just plain glass, or is there a calming color that would make it better for the little guys?

Thanks much

What color is the paint that's going to be behind the tank on the wall?

You can paint the outside of the tank with any pastel color. Paint should be water-based.

I used rustolium paint, white color. No issues at all.. If you want it off just get a razer blade and job done.

It does make the fish feel more secure having the back and sides covered. You can cover the back and sides if you want, instead of painting but painting looks better IMO. If you dont care, then just cover with construction paper or any aquarium background.

You should be fine without a background but it's nice to have a different color. :)

I have painted tons of tanks.... totally believe in painting the backs of tanks. Just didnt know what colors would be ideal for discus. I hear " black" isnt a good choice? does this cause stress?

black isnt ideal only for pigeon based discus because it leads to peppering...doesnt harm them just less desirable

Black is fine as long as the bottom is a light color.

well its a new tank....no paint on it yet. I would be better off painting back bottom and sides white?

Im saying if you wanted to use a dark background, paint the bottom a light color so the fish won't darken. Even average pigeon bloods won't be pepper too much with a dark background and white/light bottom.
