Hi, I am planning on running hot water from my water heater through copper pipes to my garden Bib and mixing it through a mixing faucet to use for my aquarium. Does anyone know if this is ok? One thing I'm worried about is copper leaking into my aquarium killing my fishes. Does anyone do this? Thanks.

Thanks, will any copper pipes from home depot work or do I need to get any kind of special pipes?

Regular copper pipe is OK. Try to use lead free solder.

I have PEX in my house, my previous house had galvanized pipe, but you're probably correct for most peoples houses.

Just make sure the letters on the pipe are blue. if it has red letters it's thin wall and for heat.

You should use Type L for potable water and not Type M which is for boiler water. Take care, and good luck with your project.

Hey guys, my plumber is suggesting PEX for the hot water plumbing. He says its as durable and cheaper and doesnt contaminate water. Anyone know if this is true or not? Thanks.

Plumbers facts are all correct - but copper is what has been used for a while. Pex is relatively new compared to copper, but still very good product. Copper prices are expensive right now, my husband is probably using Pex on our fishroom addition vs copper. It's also flexible to a degree, less joints.

If you ate worried about copper run your water through an hma filter first. Works wonders. I have to use as I keep rays.

I live in Eastbourne - the sunniest place in Britain. That isn't really saying much...
Coffee please - black and strong in pint mugs, for best results at least 6 a day.

And if you use a HMA filter you won't need to add Prime.
