Changing Eye Color

Hi folks.

I received my Reflection D's as 2.5 inch fish two months ago. When they arrived all had a nice ruby red colored eye. Today, my two largest fish are pushing five inches in total length.

Today I noticed that several are losing the nice red color and started changing to yellow!

Thinking back, it seemed rare to me years ago to see a solid blue adult fish with a red eye.

I feed lots of live food, some frozen bloodworms and a bit of beefheart on occasion.

Diet or Genetics?

Please weigh in!

I'd say diet if they had a nice red eye initially. Also, water parameters can have a big impact.
