Short story: I have 9 fish growing out in a 65 gallon tank and 2 have paired up, taking half the tank up for themselves. They've laid eggs 3 times now, and I'd like to get them to hold off so I can get a bit more growth out of them. And not only are they hooking up in one corner, their love juice must be floating across the tank, because all of a sudden there are 2 more possible pairs. I've tried adding some Epsom salt to keep the TDS up, but it hasn't slowed them down. Any thoughts?

Seperate the suspected male and females into two tanks if possible.

Or use egg crate to divide the tank.

Just leave them be. Laying eggs won't hurt the growth so much as rasing fry will.

I had this happen in my display tank - I totally rescaped, upped the TDS a bit (I use RO water with RO Right), and haven't had it happen since. I believe the re-scaping made the biggest difference. three times the 'new pair' picked a place to lay eggs and I moved everything around each time :) (poor fish! LOL).

Poor fish are trying to get it in and your disrupting their love mojo;)

haha, very funny. Actually, my wife is pregnant with our first kid, so I'll find out soon enough, right? I guess it depends on if we make it to kid #2.
