Hi guys,

I know the more frequent the water changes are, the better it is.
I have a 75g tank and 5 discus inside and I do about 2 to 3 times per week a 30-40% wc. My question is:

1. Will I grow the discus to their max potential with this routine?
2. I kinda feel bad by changing so much water, i feel I am wasting it. It is REALLY essential to change at least 50% everyday to grow them to their maximum?
3. Has any of you experienced very good growth with less frequent water changes?

Thanks!

It really depends on how old the fish are, how much/what you feed and your water composition.

there are a lot more factors involved imho - altho I'm not an expert by any means! :)
personally, I do 50% minimum daily on my 75g, and feed 3-4 times a day.....some days when I feed less I do less WC. if I want to skip a day, I feed very little. my Discus have grown from 4" to approx 6" in about 10 months.
how big/old are your fish????

Its not necessary to change 50 or 90 % of water change its depend on you personally I wc 30 % daily feed 5 times BHM pellets flake but in small quantity to retain my water clarity

Imo.....depends what you feed the discus...(commercial foods, homemade foods etc)......homemade foods easily foul the water quality and require water changes after feedings.....I'm just a hobbyist.
