Are they pairing up?

I have a 90 gallon tank with 10 Discus in it.They are from 2 1/2 inches to 4 1/2 inches.They are all Red Turqs.The 2 largest seem to always be hanging around together and chasing everyone else.They have the best color too.They are not cleaning any surface,just hanging together.Could these be pairing up or are they to small.They are about 7 months old.

I think that 7 months is too young for Discus to start pairing up. It's probably just the pecking order.

I had some 9 month old Discus acting the same and I put them in a tank of their own and they spawned the next week.Maybe you could put them in a tank of their own to find out :)

Was thinking about trying that.I do have an extra 20 gallon high tank.

If there hanging out together all the time it could well be a pair, well worth putting them in a tank of their own!

Discus hang together, they are schooling fish. Very rarely will they spawn at 7 months but it happens.
