Does anybody feed fish roe to their Discus.
56% protein, 40% fat, good source of Vit. C, E, and B12.

People have in the past. Run a search on it.

I ran "fish roe" and "roe as food" and found nothing.
Perhaps breeders don't want their fish eating eggs.

Yeah, I tried searching too. Some people have used it in their mixes with good results. Its not really like a breakthrough. You can supplement anything into a mix.

I was curious if frozen roe carried any disease threat, etc.
Shad roe is available some times, etc

I'm not sure about the ability of disease transfer. I know its best to feed ocean fish instead of freshwater fish to avoid disease transfer but I am not sure about roe.

In my experiences with community tanks, fish eggs are some of the favorite foods of the other fish in the tank. Very rarely will any live to hatch, never mind mature.

On the other hand, I would not feed mine roe from sources that I wasn't absolutely sure of. As with any other animal, diseases of the parent may find their way into the offspring. If this is roe you have raised yourself and are absolutely sure of its source, by all means, feed away. If it's from the local lake and someone just "happens" to have a bunch, I would be really suspicious and probably use it for rose food outside instead.

Cheers!
