Hi, I'm a novice Discus Owner from Manila. Great and informative website guys. I've read a great deal here in the beginners thread but I still have a question. I hope you guys don't mind.

I have been growing discus since August/2012 in a 20 gallon tank(powerfed 5x a day and WC 2x a day). I feel like the 10 Discus fish i have which are 3 to 4 inches have outgrown my 20 gallon tank. They now are in a 75 gallon Driftwood and lightly planted tank.
(pics below)
I have a few questions:
1. Can i still powerfeed them like i used to in a bigger tank?
2. They are spooked with the lights, will they get used to it? Should i keep the lights on or off? It's been only 2 days.
3. Will they grow better in the bigger tank than in the 20 given the fact that i feed them less?
4. Will they ever get out of this shy state? I'm tempted to bring them back to the 20 gallon.
5. I'm using just regular fluorecents? Is this bad? What are the cheaper alternatives?
Thanks in advance.
Here they are in the 20 gal

Welcome to Simply!

1. Yes, if you can maintain good water parameters.
2. It seems to be that light in 75g is brighter than the 20g. You can leave the tank light off and use another light source in the room.
3. No. You need to feed them to grow and do water changes.
4. Yes.
5. They are fine. Your fish are not used to it yet give them time.

thanks for your replies.
They've warmed up to me during feeding times but i still have to feed with the lights off. Everytime i turn it on they try to disguise themselves like they were part of the driftwood.

Just give them time, don't get them back to the 20 gal tank, how many watts are those lights?
