Filter ceramics

Can you have too much ceramic noodles etc in a filter system? Currently I have the usual ceramic noodle rings as supplied with the tank (55-gallon AquaOne) but I had to add some more before I could get the tank cycled properly. As the Discus continue to grow, I was thinking of adding some BioHome ceramic cylinders plus an amount of BioZym, but I don't want to overdo it. Any comments/advice?

How big is your tank? anyway i beleive it's never enough, i put whole bunch in my sump.

I did say it holds 55 (UK) gallons. 40"x16"x20". OK, I'll put some more ceramics in.
