Well she is following in the same footstep's of her older sister's. She turned 12 on the 17th and has now killed her first deer. A doe from Harper. The .243 that she used is the same one that killed the first deer for my Dad, Mom, me, and both of my older girls.

Good lord! :shocked2: :shocked2: :shocked2: My son is turning 12 in three weeks and can't imagine my son doing that. He's happy going fishing and catching a few nice sized fish. This is at a whole another level. How far was the deer when she shot her?

Thanks everyone. The deer was only about 40 yards when she shot her. She made a great shot and it was over very quickly.

John,
Congrats to your daughter for her first deer! :)

With all the deer hunting you and your family do, your fridge and freezer must always be stocked. Bet you guys have some serious Deer recipes... If I ever get out with my Bow, I'll have to hit you up for some of them.

Happy New Years,
Al

Thanks guys. Al nothing better than chicken fried backstrap. My range with a bow or rifle? With the bow I try to keep it under 30 yards but have taken deer out to 45 yards. With a rifle I have streched it out to 400+ yards a time or two.

That's pretty impressive. Do you have the rifle on some sort of a tripod equivalent stand? As you see, I know nothing about guns.

No but on long shots I will rest it on something. I have not rifle hunted in years.
