Well I solved my water ageing problem. After going back and forth with the wife on the best solution, we settled on two new 40s from Petco. I plan on building a double stand this week and will have it up and running in a day or two. All I can say is this is a great tank for 40 bucks.
Now I need to find a cheap pump that will get the water to the living room about 50’ away..

This is what I use from Jehmco. (JSSSP-FGHT)

I put it in my barrels and attach my cleaning hose to it and plug it in. I only use it for filling not for draining as I don't want to contaminate my holding tanks.

You will still need barrels as these will have fish in them too :D

Pumps
Wayne Utility pump PC2 - self priming
Mag drive various models all submergible or inline use. Not self priming when using inline.

That is so true. Can not have empty tanks full of water sitting around!

I think I recall your pumping up from the basement. If so I dont think the Jehmco has enough "head",the amount of feet up it can pump water. You'll have to take that into account,so a cheap pump might not be an option.

Yes Bill for me it pumps up one level just fine with a 25' hose attached. I have a 50' hose as well and it reached my reef's holding tank as well.

You will end up with those tanks full of fish, for sure :)

I'm trying to understand how the Jehmco works. The web site isn't real clear..

You attach your hose, plug in the motor, and it pumps the water out.Its adjustable,up or down, pivots on its elbo,so if using it on a tank like in thier picture, you can set the height of the motoer for lets say,50%wc,75%wc.I like it because if you have your heater lying on the bottom of your tank, ypu can get a 90% and still have the heater covered with water, barely.

Don't they make a remote control deal you can plug the pump into he could use for this project too?

I extend mine by adding about 8 more inches (easy girls, lol) so it gets all the way down to the bottome of the barrels. Works like a charm.
