In all honesty that is an old picture of the female with fry from a different spawn, but if I were to take a picture today it would look the same except with 4x that many fry.

Both of these fish share the same mother. The male is a cross between an Albino Red Melon and a Virgin Red (het pb). the female is a cross between an ARSG and the same Virgin red. I am mainly interested in the non-pb fry this pair produce.

In all seriousness, I want to see just that. The hope is to add red to the female phenotype (non PB).

awesome mutt pic lol.

thanks, it's still needs some work, but the rough draft of a logo for the mutt motel........ Seeing how you can't make money off of selling discus, might as well go into marketing (jk).

In all fairness, a bulldog is a purebred, whereas mine are just mutts ;)

Will be interesting for sure Rick. Nice parents, that red male turned out to have a clean body despite the brown based mother, maybe the next generation pb's will be clean too.

But what i want to know is how are you going to tell which albino baby is pigeon? :D

LOL, very good Rick. But the dorsal doesn't match the anal fin, i'm afraid i can only score 3 there mate!! Impressive eye size ratio however.

It may be just coincidence, but I have noticed that of the pigeon blood to non-pigeon blood cross's I have done, when using an albino in the cross, the offspring tend to be cleaner (thus producing an offspring that is both het pb and het albino). I will admit that I culled alot of the batch in which the male came from and only saved a few.

But what i want to know is how are you going to tell which albino baby is pigeon?

Hopefully some will have survived. ;) My survival rate of albino fry when breeding to het albino's has not been that great. I will definately keep any that do, and decide what to do with them depending on how they look.

Well, its is still very immature, as you can tell by the lack of color and pattern. I am sure the final product will address these deficits.

I am guessing more than 200 closer to 300, although next week I am going to start reducing thier numbers.

Ok Taking Rods advice, we worked a bit on these items in the F2 generation (very careful culling ya know)

Well the fry from this batch certainly had some interesting suprises, mainly ALOT of checkerboard pigeons and alot of red turks......However, I did get some browns to work with and while the amount of them was less than expected (due to the high percentage of turks) the experiment was a limited success with a group of juvies looking like this:

http://i567.photobucket.com/albums/ss118/nc0gnet0/exp-0-2-1_zps6b1dca16.jpg

(ignore the SS in the background that is from another cross, I combined them to save on tank space)
