Before i got a big piece of driftwood for my tank, i would clean out the main sponge once every month or so(if thats not enough or too much please say). I recently cleaned it and noticed it turned all brown due to the wood, i was curious if i should now up the cleaning of the main filter sponge?

I'd imagine its just stained is it not? Can't see the wood making it more dirty unless it was growing that gross white slime that I've seen in other's tanks.

I would think its just the wood making it discolored, just not sure if i should up the cleaning of the sponge. Yes i have 2 plecos

whenever I have wood and plecos together the prefilter needs to be cleaned more often. I think the plecos "mill" the driftwood.
