I wajt to get a inline heater for my tank. I was wondering if anyone has any brand ideas. I was looking at a 300 watt hydro but so far all I have heard is bad thing about that brand and company having a bad reputation. Any thought and input would be great. Thanks all

The hydor inline heater are actually very good. There isn't really a big selection of inline heater to choose from. It's either hydor or DIY

Kens Fish, Hydro 300W $53.95. If you order other stuff to get to a $100 order no shipping, no tax. Check out Kens food prices, real good! Especially Tetra and Sera foods. You can always find stuff to buy at Kens. Buy extra if you have to to get to $100.

I've used 2 Hydrs in the past. Amazing heaters. Only reason I stopped using them was I took down my canisters. If there was a way for me to use them otherwise I would in a heartbeat.

That bad review must of come from an isolated lemon, never once had one fail on me and the temp is amazingly accurate and holds very steady. Heaters don't get hot on the outside at all and the LED lets you know its working.

No issues here either, three of them in service.

Actually there is another brand, search for Jebo HT-600. This one is smaller and not so good quality, it was cheaper also. If I had to buy again I will go with Hydor.

Yes.. I am using two hydor. Had them for a few years.. never a problem.

I originally had plan to make my own inline using jager heater but the Hydor worked so well that I totally forgot about the idea.

I did find kens and I do plan on buying from him. I have realized the more I search around this forum the more I realize that I would rather purchase from are members and keeping the discus community going versus giving to my local pet shop. :-)

Update

My newest Hydor ETH, a couple of months of use only, has developed a leak. Contacted the seller, lets see what do they have to say about it.

Curious, I've had three running for years with absolutely no issues. I'll be curious to know how your issue comes out.

That heater must be cracked on the inside plastic sleeve to be able to leak from the outside. I thought mine had a cracks but water was dripping down my filter hose onto the filter.

Something must be broken inside for sure as water can be seen through the semy transparent black plastic. Discontinued it as soon as I notice it and sent an email to the shop I bought it from. They did not ask anything, and a new one was shipped to me today. I will have to send this defective unit back to them though. It is useless as it is.
