Best suggestion that I can give right now is to not worry about breeding...leave that the breeder and just enjoy discus. If in the future you decide to breed discus I suhhest that you do not try crosses. Developing a new strain is much harder and takes much longer than most people realize.

Agree with John. You need to be comitted and have space and time to be able to successfuly cross and line breed to something you want to create and unless you understand the genetics of it all you can end up with some bad mutations that are worth nothing and not very appealing and worse yet more prone to disease ect.

I think its interesting to checkout the crosses that people have done. There are some beautiful fish that come from unlikely crosses. There was a thread a while back i loved....i believe it was a blue diamond x redcover. I never would have guessed such beautiful fish from that cross.

Yeh that was a nice cross wouldn't of thought they world end up like that.

So on one hand it is possibly bad...and on the other it can turn out beautifully...where do you find the line to decide whether or not you should attempt it?
