Fish will color up naturally with age, some strains will color up quicker than others. You cannot expect to have 2inch fish to have adult color unless they are treated with harmones or they are stunted.

Tetra Color Bit/Granules will enhance color as well as paprika powder which is mixed by some into the beef heart mixes.

There are alot of color enhancers that are not chemical. Astaxanthin, spirulina, paprika, shrimp/krill powder..and there are also alot of foods that enhance color. Now if you are trying to bring out color in fish that are young you will need hormones.

Astaxanthin, paprika or shrimp/krill powder would work well for you if you want to make your own food mix. Also, If you can find some sera brand food with red color enhancers that would be good too.
