Hi guys, I need suggestions on a submersible pump which can fit in a circular opening which is about 4 and 3/4 inches across. I got a 120 gallon WC tank and all my pumps are too big :(

What are you looking for in terms of gph?

Brandon, this is for refilling tanks so the more the merrier if you will. Also being able to fit either 1/2 or 3/4 interior tubing on the outlet is a plus.

I use a 700gph mag drive pump made by danner model 7. Model number is E160713 listed 8C99. It's at a little less than 4.5 inches wide approx 7inches long

Hi Pat, why not try using threaded attachment that will connect to the outflow of your pump. You can fid these either atthe local hardware store or Homepot. One end screws on the the threaded endof the pump and the other is usually barbed which will enable you to choose the correct size tubing to use. Remember you can also attach a ball valve which will enable to turn the ball valve off so you won't lose any water while going from tank or should you turn water while answering the phone. Just check out what the hardware store or Homedeopt has in their plumbing department, these items are usually made of save aquaruim use pvc material. Pat hope this helps....Al from Omaha

Hi Al, the problem is priming the pump. My normal pump for this is a mag drive 9. I guess I could set it in a bucket with a big of water but what a PITA.

Pat what about a pump that could be submersed or non submersed... With a ball valve after the pump -- primed once and done. I use a 3/4 hp swimming pool pump for my 275 gallon - once primed the first time it's been fine ever since. I know the larger mag pumps and the eheim pumps will all do this.

Hi Pat,

Can you put in a bulkhead in the side of that 120 container you got and mount the pump on the outside like I did? Just put in a ball valve and union so if you ever want to take it off if you have pump problems it will be easier.
