"What I'd wish for" DISCUS POLL

Well, it's really a question more than a offer. If you could access any Discus you wanted whether it be from your favorite sponsor here on SD or something rare, what would be the top 5 Discus species to import.

What do you guys want to see for sale more than anything here on SD if this were a real possibility? (This is just a poll for now but hey, the sponsors get to see it so maybe they'll import these based on your votes or describing your Dream Fish?)

We all have our favorites, our dream fish yet to obtain, or maybe you have one but just havn't had any luck finding a couple more to get a breeding pair out of them? Limited to listing only 10, this is difficult to create a poll for so if yours isn't listed in the poll, then list it in your message along with it's full name, scientific name, common name and photo if available and everyone can vote on your post that way!

I've had my eye on what I found called the Violate or Purple Discus. Is this for real or photo shopped? Anyone know where I could find one? The place that had the photo didn't have any contact info to whomever the author was.

This isn't only my dream list, it's everyones. I did put a couple I liked up there but in short like written I was restricted to only 10 options and the system doesn't permit readers to add more to the polling section so if you don't see your favorite there, list it in your post with name and photo! The idea is that maybe a sponsor, hobbyist, breeder, or someone on the site here at SD may have seen it. Very similar to how John above says he's never seen a purple discus that he knows of and yet rubinsteinnyc below says they have seen them! So now I get to go check out rubinsteinnyc lead and maybe find something very cool I've been looking for.

In addition, this might help out the sponsors here when they are looking for importing more fish. It'll give them a good idea of what the majority of people want here.

Feel free to give it a try, it should be a fun thread.

Thanks for the link. Looks like it's his personal fish so I'll need to keep searching. That's a pretty awesome looking discus in the avatar you have TNT77. Is that really yours?

I ripped the photo I have for my avatar and would love to get ahold of one like that also. The variations coming out are so awesome.

Think it was a new strain someone he knew was working on; whether or not it ever paned out I don't know. And yes it was I lost him a long time ago during some hurricanes.

Could be. Damn good photoshop though. Blowing up the photo I don't see any clues of it but some guys are really good at it. I was thinking more along the way of "maybe" a cobalt blue cross that has a purple shimmer and under tritenic lighting (reddish light) the redish light with the blueish fish could have resulted in a photo that looks more purple than they may normally appear. May be a start for someone good at crossbreeding to work with though. I can tell you 20 years ago I would have never dreamed of the colors and variations of discus I see now.

If they were really good the eyes wouldn't be purple. Especially the same exact shade as the fish. ;)
