I have read a few threads about how gravel or sand can be beneficial to discus by buffering the water but also how it can be harmful to discus by trapping amino but a bare bottom tank in my opinion kinda looks dull and you cant put large stones for decorations in a bare bottom tank bc it would scratch the glass and i know driftwood look ok any ideas of decorating a bare bottom or is sand or gravel really that bad bc i want a nice tank with decorations and sand and gravel do look nice any info would be great thanks

There are some really cool aquascapes that are bare bottom that used river rock and attached plants to drift wood. Also potted plants can be a good choice. You can get very creative with three pots.

Scratching the bottom of tank will be the least of my worries......... But you can use some driftwood.
