Well, I'm 0 for 3 when it comes to heater controllers. My JBJ just started smoking. My previous ones were Aqua Medic and Finnex. I give up, I think that's my last one. Just glad I was home to catch it.

The Aqua Medic lasted a while. I mostly had issues with it keeping an accurate temperature. I believe they've been discontinued. The Finnex was quite a while ago. I had a couple of them, heaters as well. They stopped coming on, at the time the stores in my area stopped carrying them due to problems.

I have heard good things about these mini temperature controllers: http://www.ebay.com/itm/110V-Digital-LCD-Thermostat-Temperature-Regulator-Controller-Aquarium-Fish-Tank-/290704096237?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item43af507bed. There are videos all over youtube showing how to wire them. I plan on doing something very similar to what is shown in this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7I-iwFLykxs. The home brewers use them and love them. I ordered 2 last week. I will let you know what I think of them once I get them (coming from HK, they won't be here a month or so).

I have one of those, is not the best but it does the job, mine is 2 degrees off and you can't calibrate them.

The medusa controller can be calibrated.

The Finnex is the one I had problems with on another thread. There were several people that had problems also.

Hmmm, more options than I realized out there. I'll do some more research. In the meantime, I've ordered some more Ebo Jägers. Good deal from Jemhco right now, $18 for the 250 watt. I'm scrambling to keep my discus water temp up to it's normal cozy level.
