What a real planted tank could look like.

PS: Can anybody tell me how to post an image like this that fills the page, and does not have a thumbnail?

Go to photobucket, setup an account if not already, and upload picture. Next copy the direct link and use the insert image from URL. Paste the url to the URL text box and uncheck the "Retrieve remote file and reference locally". That should post your pic.

This is a photo from Three Sister Springs in Fla. Crystal River.
While here I have looked all over for this "root wood" for sale.

As per your instructions, but no image...

Thats pretty darn spectacular. If you could emulate that and put it in a terrarium it would be amazing. Would look amazing in an aquarium as well :).

That shot is called a Snells window. Wide angle lens underwater shot straight up with a calm clear surface lets you see as if there is no water.

Wonder if I could make tank backgrounds with shots like these?

WOW that last picture is awesome. Im amazed at the over all water clarity. You could try your hand at making custom 3d backgrounds. Its allot of work, but hey if you could recreate those roots, i think it would be worth it.

These Fla. springs stay clear because of the constant outflow of water. When the Manatees come in to stay warm the vis drops quickly, they take huge dumps!
Not sure where to start with the backgrounds, was thinking more in the line of stick on photos that matched the size of any given tank.

Yeah I figured you were talking about the stick ons. You could contact a company and see if they're hire you for photography lol. But I'm sure people would like that as a background. Also that manatee looks so peaceful do they just go intok the spring once a year? I love how it looks like all the fish are using it for cover.

Manatees are quite susceptible to cold water. When water temps get below 68 they flock to the fresh water springs that have a constant 72 degrees. So the best time to see them and photograph them in clear water is in the winter. It was cold there last week with AM air temps at 40. Nothing seemed warm.
The juvies love to play with people, while the adults just sleep!

go to any store or shop that develops pictures in large scale, have them print it on a glossy material

SMB2

Then they would somehow have to be "water-proofed".

You would just stick it on the back glass outside the water. Seriously though that must be an incredible experience being around those manatees like that.

Well they seem to like having people around. As long as it is controlled I suspect in the long run all awareness helps to protect the animals. They are strange mermaids.

Most of the Juvies that are no longer nursing are very inquisitive.

Well you would need a dry suit to be in the water all day! Snorkeling in the springs though is like swimming in a fresh water tank.
