When keeping wilds or brown based strains, what are the best backgrounds to show off their colors? Are black backgrounds the best?
Pour in your opinions please;)

I think black is best. Seems to be the color of the bottom tank effects internal coloring mechanism of the fish as well.

Personally I do not like black with my wilds. I prefer neutral tones on my backgrounds and like the slimline backgrounds which I have in two of my wild discus tanks. The blue cast is from the led lights.

I recently took my black background off my wild tank, was tired of them being dark and getting an almost smoky look to them. No complaints so far except from a photography stand point. Really thinking about what Pat has done with a 3D or slimline background. LOVE that fish on the left Pat.

Thanks Matt, a little amber eyed royal. Mark and I are guessing female. Behaviors indicate female too so far.

Also my wilds are darker and all barred up with a black background. I do not like that look with with either the Cuipeua or the Tefe.

Will having a black background and white substrate make a difference? If not, which is the next best which brings out their colors?
If 3D backgrounds, the lighter colored ones or the darker?
